WEST Midlands Fire Service has helped a Birmingham youngster realise that firefighting is for both boys and girls by making a special video.
A mum messaged the brigade after her daughter came home saying she wished she was a boy so she could be a fireman when she grew up.
Despite her mum explaining it was open to everyone, the little girl said all the firefighters in books were all boys and even if she did make it into the career she did not want to be the only girl.
Here is the video featuring a number of female firefighters in explaining that they had made it their career and so should could she:
We received this message: "My 4yr old came home saying she wished she was a boy so she could be a fireman. When I said girls can be firefighters too she said 'I’ve seen in books they are all boys -I don’t want to be the only girl.’Our crews have responded! #firefightingsexism pic.twitter.com/7TrHrtxQgJ
