Suspected car-jackers believed to have stolen Mercedes arrested in Woodgate Valley

TWO SUSPECTED car-jackers who stole a Mercedes at knifepoint from Nechells were arrested in Woodgate Valley.

A man in his 20s suffered a slash wound to his hand following the incident in Duddeston Mill Road at 10.30pm on last night.

The car was driven away but was spotted by police in Selly Oak at 1am this morning.

The vehicle was pursued to Bark Piece in Woodgate Valley where they abandoned the vehicle.

Police officers gave chase and the one man – a 20-year-old – was found by a police dog hiding in bushes in Sommerfield Road.

Another man, aged 23, was detained in Ox Leasow. Cannabis and a knife were found in the Mercedes.

The pair were arrested on suspicion of robbery, possession of a weapon and drugs with intent to supply.

They were then taken into custody and questioned by police.
