A MAN died yesterday afternoon in a serious crash on the M5 motorway which saw a van caught between two lorries.
It happened around 3.15pm in between Junction 5 (Droitwich) and Junction 4a (M42).
Two ambulances and a paramedic officer were sent to the scene but it quickly became apparent to the paramedics that nothing could be done to save the driver and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the one lorry, a man in his 50s, was assessed at the scene for knee pain and shock but was discharged.
The other lorry driver, a 60-year-old man was assessed at the scene and taken to the Worcestershire Royal Hospital with minor cuts and abrasions.
Chemicals spilling onto the carriageway meant the whole road was shut for the rest of the day and through the night so it could be resurfaced.
It is expected to re-open this morning.
