A NEW sixth-form centre and sports hall has been officially opened at Lordswood Girls School.
The honour fell to MP Preet Kaur Gill who was joined for the event by local councillors, headteachers and other colleagues from Birmingham City Council, local universities and Calthorpe Estates.
The new building allows students to have access to the best facilities around to help them through their post-16 studies.
Preet, the member of Parliament for Edgbaston, said: “The Lordswood Girls Sixth Form has worked hard to earn its reputation as a centre for excellence and one of the top performing sixth forms nationally.
“Staff and students alike should be proud of their achievements and the valuable contributions they make to their local community.
Preet, a former Lordswood Girls School student, said it was a real honour and a privilege to be back there officially opening the new building and sports hall.
“This building and the facilities on offer, will provide students with the tools needed to succeed in becoming the very best versions of themselves that they can be.”
Lordswood Sixth Form Centre is a co-educational sixth form made up of students from Lordswood Girls’ School and increasing numbers of students from other schools.
The Sixth Form offers a wide range of subjects at both A Level and technical level, including the Government’s new T Level qualification, in addition to opportunities for students to extend their knowledge and skills outside the classroom through an enrichment programme and partnerships with Higher Education and industry.
