A MAN has been jailed for six years following an incident at McDonald’s in Lee Bank last year.
Andre Sargeant, of Rickman Drive, admitted possession of the firearm and ammunition which was discovered on October 2.
Sargeant was spotted carrying a black man bag and was spotted by an unarmed officer who called support and firearms teams closed in.
He was captured a short time later and a search of the bag found a loaded pistol.
The swoop by officers was captured on this West Midlands Police video.
Supt Tom Joyce, who oversees the Birmingham Organised Crime Team which secured the conviction, said: “This was great work by detectives and firearms officers who worked quickly to get Sargeant safely in handcuffs within minutes of him being spotted.
“The arrest also led directly to the recovery of a loaded, lethal weapon, which would no doubt have been used to cause fear, injury or death on the streets of the West Midlands.
“The Organised Crime Team continues to use a whole range of tactics to disrupt gangs and serious criminality, while working with other agencies to ensure young people are steered away from that lifestyle.”
