SOUTH Birmingham is home to the UK’s best teacher after a three-week search on Facebook was carried out by the Post Office gift card One4All.
Sophie Fleming from Colmore Infant School in Kings Heath was crowned superhero teacher of the year.
It followed a heart-warming nomination from a parent at the school. Gemma Foster whose daughter attends Colmore Infants School said: “She is always smiling and calm.
“She runs the school choir and music club and has been amazing teaching my little girl this year.
“She has had such a positive impact on the whole class.
“She has progressed them from being average readers, to fluent in reading pretty long paperbacks, from counting to mega multiplication, and everything in between.
“She is dedicated, professional and yet warm and friendly, even I look forward to seeing her each morning, she puts me in a good mood – she’s just amazing!”
One4all Gift Cards surprised Mrs Fleming and her colleagues at school on the last day of term, when she was presented with an award which included two £500 One4all Gift Cards – one for herself and one for her school.
The campaign, which saw almost 200 nominations being submitted in total from locals, parents, students and colleagues, all of whom were eager to sing the praises of teachers from primary and secondary level schools across the nation.
Rachel Delaney, Group Marketing Manager at One4all Gift Cards, added: “Teachers have such an important role to play in the lives of the younger generation, helping to shape their future lives and ensure they feel supported and happy throughout every step of their school journey.
“It’s a huge responsibility and requires a lot of patience, dedication and passion, not just on some days but every day – a skill which we at One4all Gift Cards feel should be rewarded.”
