A GROUP of workers from Cadbury’s cycled from Bournville to Marlbrook in Herefordshire and back again, notching up 200km and raising £9,571 for charity.
The challenge was undertaken by 40 employees and took 400 hours with the cash going to Acorns Children’s Hospice and Megan Baker House which the firm has supported for a number of years.
Steven Say, Supply Planning Manager and Community Champion said: “200km in one go is about the furthest I’ve ever cycled – made harder by the number of hills we had to climb, the hardest of which was in the Malvern hills in the climb up to British Camp.
“Luckily we had the weather on our side!
“The team at Marlbrook put on a fantastic buffet when we arrived, they really went the extra mile to welcome us – a big thank you from all the riders.
“The final 80km back to Bournville was tough but we made it – I’ve never been so happy to see Bournville Place!”
