BROMSGROVE MP Sajid Javid has been appointed as the new Home Secretary following the resignation of Amber Rudd.
Sajid David MP
It means the 48-year-old will hold one of the most high-profile roles in the Government with his new responsibilities including the prevention of terrorism, cutting crime, promotion of growth and the control of immigration.
Mr Javid leaves his current role as minister for housing, communities and local government, a position he has held since January.
The news comes as previous home secretary, Amber Rudd, resigned last night after she admitted that she had ‘inadvertently misled’ MPs over government targets for the removal of illegal immigrants.
