BIRMINGHAM City’s survival chances in the SkyBet Championship will go down to the wire after Saturday’s 3-1 defeat at Queens Park Rangers.
Blues are two places above the relegation zone and have a two-point advantage over Burton Albion, who are third from bottom.
City have a superior goal-difference to the Brewers, so one more point would all but ensure their Championship spot for the 2018-19 campaign.
However, Blues face a tough challenge in their final home game of the season against Fulham on Sunday (12.30pm ko), who are still chasing automatic promotion. The London-based team are unbeaten in 23 league matches and will be hoping to leap over second-placed Cardiff.
Victory for Birmingham would definitely guarantee safety while Burton, who have won three games in a row, go to play-off chasing Preston North End.
Meanwhile 21st placed Barnsley defeated Brentford 2-0 on Saturday and end the season against Derby still needing a win to avoid relegation.
Against QPR, City had taken the lead thanks to Che Adams but their advantage lasted just two minutes when Bright Osayi-Samuel levelled.
Second half goals for Ilias Chair and Matt Smith sealed Birmingham’s loss.
